ICKENHAM CHURCH NEWS

The holiday club this year was its usual success. We had 184 children registered, who over the week discovered the story of the Bible through becoming Desert Detectives. We began our search for ‹The Mighty God SwordŠ. However, by looking through the five main areas of the Bible - Law, History, Wisdom, Prophecy and Gospels - we discovered that what we were really seeking was ‹God‰s WordŠ. We joined the modern age of computers and videos and drama to tell our story. Once again outings, crafts and games were the order of the afternoons.
We are now, however, coming up against new guidelines and orders which make the care of children a more exacting task. We hope that we can embrace all this in the future, where needed, without spoiling the children‰s enjoyment or raising the organisers stress levels to a point whereby the whole thing is too difficult to manage.
The holiday club in Ickenham cannot run without the wonderful support received from all the helpers. This year some 150 plus came forward and I would like to thank them all for the work they did. Their help and encouragement does make my job as coordinator so much easier.
