I.C.N. will continue to be received by Copthall Road East residents thanks to Mr. And Mrs. Sexton who have volunteered to deliver to the Îoddâ numbers and Mrs. Christie who will do the Îevenâ ones. Mr. Echlin has volunteered to act as standby for any illness as has Mrs. Price-Smith.Ê All these volunteers live in Copthall Road East. PETE COTTAGE ö LATEST

Because of the enormous strength of Ickenham Village community feeling against the proposed re-development of Pete Cottage, the London Borough of Hillingdon is to request the Planning Inspectorate to consider the appeal for the site by means of a Public Inquiry.

 

At the Uxbridge Planning meeting of 5^th November the proposal to demolish the building was rejected. The Developer, Mr C Lane, was reported to have dismissed this refusal as irrelevant, whilst his agent (Uxbridge based architectural consultants, Mark Baldwin Design) was quoted as saying that the whole planning process could go on forever if the company did not appeal and force a decision.

 

The Secretary of State has informed local organisations that he is not minded to List the Cottages. Although no reasons are given it is felt that the Îmodernâ roof extension might have played a part in this decision.

 

With all the circumstances surrounding the planning proposal it is thought likely that L.B.H. might defer the possibility of Local Listing until after the outcome of the Inquiry is known.
