happy to receive them.

SOCIETY BOXES
Boxes for this charity have recently been opened and the sum
of Ł356.34 was sent to the Society. Grateful thanks are sent to all box-holders
for their generosity. The Society does stress that this simple form of
fund-raising is still vital to their work and more box-holders would be very
welcome. Anyone interested please contact Marjorie Gowers on 01895 635703.
‹Are you an a-millennialist, pre-millennialist or post-millennialist,Š a convention speaker was asked.ć ‹What a preposterous question!Š he replied.
The millennium of recent celebration should not be confused with the 1,000 year reign of Christ described in Revelation chapter 20.ć Satan is bound for 1000 years, then ‹set free for a short timeŠ.
A-millennialists believe that the last book of the Bible is symbolical and that 1,000 years means a long time and that the binding of Satan refers to Christ‰s victory over the devil, which Christ shares with his followers.
Pre-millennialists and post-millennialists take the 1,000 years literally.ć Pre-millennialists teach that when Christ comes again, he will reign on earth with his followers for 1,000 years, at the end of which he will put down a fresh rebellion against him.
Post-millennialists teach that the gospel of Christ will be so widely accepted on earth that the nations will eventually follow his principles for 1,000 years, after which he will return and put down a final rebellion.
Never mind!ć Christ is coming again!ć That‰s a great joy. And meanwhile the gospel is spreading throughout the world.

SNIPPETS
You know you‰re getting old when the candles cost more than the cake. - BOB HOPE, who died in July aged 100
Do not ask me whether I believe in this or that. Ask me rather ëto what do I give my heart?‰ For there is my God, my spirit, my life. - Harvey Gillman
Authentic Christianity is not learning a set of doctrines and then stepping into cadence with people all marching the same way. It is not simply humanitarian service to the less fortunate. It is a walk š a supernatural walk, with a living, dynamic, communicating God. Thus the heart and soul of the Christian life is learning to hear God‰s voice and developing the courage to do what he tells us to do. - BILL HYBELS in Too Busy Not to Pray (IVP, 1999)
We need not think alike to love alike. - FRANCIS DAVID (1510-1579)
