CHRISTMAS CHILD

On Sunday 2nd November the Ickenham U.R.C‰s seventy-one shoeboxes were filled with gifts ready to be taken to a local ëCoOp‰. From there Samaritan‰s Purse International collected the gifts and stored them in their warehouse ready for delivery to a poor, needy or suffering child in any part of the world. Over six million such boxes are distributed through this scheme to children in over one hundred countries regardless of nationality, political background or religious beliefs. Where appropriate, children will be offered a booklet containing Bible stories. Samaritan‰s Purse is meeting critical needs of victims of war, poverty, famine, disease, and natural disaster while sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. www.samaritanspurse.uk.com
In October‰s I.C.N. Ickenham U.R.C. appealed for help in meeting the cost of replacing its church central heating system. A target of £10,000 was set and to date over £8,000 has been received.
The Church would like to thank everyone who has helped ensure that the main building, and its community rooms, will remain warm for years to come.
Work continues to raise the £2,000 balance needed still, and we would welcome contributions from anyone who missed the initial appeal. Donations can be made payable to Ickenham United Reformed Church.
Once again thank you to everyone involved.

As part of St. Giles‰ Church celebrations of Advent a modern POSADA has been organised. This is the Spanish word for an ‹InnŠ. Each day during Advent small figures of Mary and Joseph will travel round Ickenham from one home to another, returning to church on Christmas Eve. This will help us to think of making room for Jesus in our homes and in our lives, particularly recalling how there was no room for Mary and Joseph in the inn.
