ICKENHAM AFTERNOON TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD
On 30th August the Guild’s Music Group held a very successful garden party in the grounds of the 1st Ickenham Scout Hut. An excellent buffet lunch was served followed by a cream tea. The variety of stalls available, along with the tombola and raffle, raised a grand sum of £800 to be divided between the local Multiple Sclerosis Society Branch, and the Parkinsons Society Community Nurse Project.
THE CHILDREN’S SOCIETY COLLECTION BOXES
The Children’s Society was founded 125 years ago through the vision of Edward Rudolf, a Sunday School teacher. He was determined to help children for whom there was no other provision. Over the years the work of the Charity has adapted to meet many changes but continues to support children whose needs are overlooked, neglected, or ignored.
Very recently all our local collection boxes were opened and they contained a total of £338.72.
Thank you to all our box holders for your generosity. The money raised will help the Children’s Society work with, and for, children to assist them in dealing with life’s harshest challenges, and face the future with confidence.
If anyone would like to join the team and keep a box in their home please contact Peter Rayner on 01895 637204.
