Ickenham & Swakeleys Horticultural Society held its Spring Show in the Village Hall on 14th April. Their Chairman, Ralph Hughes (seen here between two of the many visitors) said he was pleasantly surprised by the good turnout. “We are thankful for the support given to the show and with over 250 entries on display there was plenty to see”, he said. “There were so many visitors we had to put out extra tables and chairs for them to have their tea. I think the flower show is an important social occasion for the village.”
ICN GETS RESPONSE FOR THE ABBEYFIELD SOCIETY
We were pleased to hear from Derek Hughes recently, who told us the article in the February edition of ICN had borne fruit. Abbeyfield Ickenham is the local branch of a national charity providing self-contained accommodation for elderly people who wish to live in a sociable, supportive environment. The article’s request for volunteers led to Beryl Upton kindly agreeing to undertake the role of Secretary for the society, replacing recently retired Ruth Gear, whose years of dedicated service are again gratefully acknowledged.
For further information on the Abbeyfield Society, contact Derek on 01895 624414 or 07793 727259.

NEW ICN TEAM ‘UP AND RUNNING’
Did you spot the changes to the masthead on Page 1? As mentioned in last month’s edition, a new team has taken over the production of Ickenham Church News, allowing the previous Editor David Crane a well earned rest! After seven years producing the newsletter pretty much single-handed, David certainly deserves his break, but being the sort of person he is, he has still been very busy behind the scenes this month: sorting out files, and providing all sorts of advice to help the new team get started. We are very grateful. And we’re keeping his phone number close at hand!
New Editor
Heather Piper
In the meantime, if you have David’s contact details in your address book for ICN issues, please note the replacements below:
