A Golden Christian Aid Week in Ickenham

         Small helpers, big envelopes!
The community of Ickenham came together wonderfully during May to deliver a record breaking sum to Christian Aid.

Fifty years on from the first Christian Aid Week, the two churches have raised over £10,500, a massive 17% increase on last year’s previous record amount.

You answered the call for more collectors, allowing all of the village to be covered.  There were cheerful youngsters who helped their parents deliver the red envelopes.  These were then retrieved by those who were not quite so young, but who were equally cheerful when they realised how generously the envelopes were being filled by the people of Ickenham!

By digging deep into your pockets for Christian Aid, you have supported a campaign that continues to focus on providing practical assistance to local, accountable partners and their projects in poor communities.  With this funding, deep wells can be dug where water is scarce, tree-planting programmes can help to improve impoverished soil.  Well done on helping our global neighbours in their quest to grow a brighter future!

DROP-IN FOR THE BEREAVED.  Third Monday of each month.  St Giles’ Church Hall, 2pm to 3.30pm. A friendly, informal opportunity for a chat, over a cup of tea, with other bereaved people and pastoral visitors.  The next meeting is on Monday 16th July (then Monday 20th August).  Just come along, or ring the Rectory (622970) if you would like to talk to someone first.
