Ickenham's community is celebrating - will you be there?

A week to celebrate our friendly community, the Queen's Golden Jubilee and the 50th

Anniversary of Glebe School. To reflect these occasions there will be events old and new, and we invite everyone to join in the fun.

Among the highlights are:-

Glebe School will be holding its Annual Summer Show on the first day of the Festival - Saturday 15th June. It will be opened by special guest, and ex-pupil, Sue Cook.

In contrast, there will an afternoon of real, original, rock music by local bands in the Champions Bar & Grill organised by our friends at the US Base - Admission Free!

Live music of a different kind (perhaps!) may be heard in St. Giles‰ Church during weekday lunchtimes provided by students from local schools. In addition St. Giles‰ Church will be open during the week to celebrate with floral art. The St. Giles‰ flower arrangers will beć providing a kaleidoscope of colour.

 

On Sunday, 16th June the congregations of St. Giles‰ and the U.R.C. will join together for a United Festival Service in St. Giles‰Church at 9.45 a.m. The preacher will be the Revd. Andrew Gandon, Vicar of Harefield.ć Everyone is invited.

Conducted Tours of historic St. Giles' Church will take place on Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon. Some residents‰ gardens will be opened for viewing during the week. Watch public notice boards for times.

The renowned Hobbies, Arts and Crafts Exhibition will again take place in the U.R.C., but this year starting a day earlier on Wednesday, and running on Thursday and Friday.

While the boys are enjoying the 5-a-side football at Glebe School on Monday evening there will be a Disco for Girls (6 -10) in the Village Hall. (Tickets in advance from Togs Shop).

For Children 4-6 years a Jubilee Tea Party, with an Entertainer, will be held in St. Giles‰ Church Hall on Sunday 23rd June from 3.00 - 4.30 pm. (Tickets in advance from Togs)

 

All the usual competitions and family events have been arranged. Entry Forms in the Library.

Gala Day will be on Saturday 22nd June at Swakeleys House Grounds

 

 

with lots of entertainment for all including a display by members of the English Civil War Re-enactors. Roly the Clown (aka the Revd. Roly Bain) will be in attendance with his clowning and circus tricks. As an ordained C of Eć Priest, Roly has appeared on BBC Television and is well known for his worldwide clown ministry as well as secular clowning. He has won numerous awards such as the Clowns ëInternational Clown of the Year‰ and Clowns ëSlapstick‰ Awards.

Roly is not to be missed and will talk about his work at the Men's Breakfast on the morning of Gala Day. Tickets from Don Gwilt - Tel. 01895 673704

Gala Day will end with what has now become a tradition - Vyners Swing Band Concert at Swakeleys culminating in a Fireworks display.

All are invited to join our two Churches for a Festival Service of Thanksgiving for our Community on Sunday, 23rd June in the United Reformed Church at 11 a.m.ć
