FROM THE FESTIVAL COMMITTEE
The
Committee would like to thank everyone who supported this year's Festival in
any way to make it the success it became. One again the wonderful
community spirit which exists in Ickenham was very much in evidence and it is a
privilege to be members of the organising Committee.
One measure of the success is that opportunity was provided for local organisations to raise almost £14,000.00 during the
events in the week and by stall holders on Gala Day. This figure does not
include the £2,800 which was raised by Glebe School Summer Show which would
have been held anyway nor does it include any money taken by events
arranged
by the Festival Committee.
On Monday, 7th October in St Giles' Church Hall at 8.00 pm the Festival Biannual
Public Meeting will be held. This will be an occasion when a full report
of the Committee's activities will be given and a new Committee will be formed
to plan the Festival for 2004. We invite all
local
residents to attend and opportunity will be made available for comments and
feedback.
Light
refreshments will be available.

ICKENHAM FESTIVAL WEEK CHURCH SHOWS
ëKaleidoscope‰
Flower Show: æReaders will be pleased to know that the fabulous
ëKaleidoscope‰ Flower Show displayed in St. Giles‰ Church during Ickenham
Festival Week raised over £650 to go towards the Church Hall Extension Fund.
Congratulations to Gill Roker, Jean Wilson and the
entire flower arranging team for their magnificent work.
The School Concerts put
on by Bishop Ramsey, Douay Martyrs and Vyners were a great success and entertained substantial audiences.
Well done to all concerned and thank you to Ian Smith for his lunchtime CD music presentations.
Scottish
Country Dancing in the Church Hall was another
resounding success.
Arts,
Crafts and Hobbies Exhibition: This
brilliant display of local talent, held in the U.R.C.æ was very well received and attended. It
raised £251 for the ëBritish Red Cross š Uxbridge Centre‰.
Congratulations
to the organising Stewardship Committee team which includes Richard Boyes, John Miller and Tim Playle,
and is chaired byæ Joyce Wolff, plus
everyoneæ involved in displaying, and/or
demonstrating, their skills.
Ickenham
Women‰s Churches Group Cream Teas 20th and 21ST June: A big ëThank You‰ to all who helped, donated or came as a
customer over the two days. This proved to be a very popular event during
Ickenham Festival Week and raised £304 for the Arthritis Research Campaign
(A.R.C.). Ros Penfold, one
of our members, also opened her garden to the public, and this raised an
additional £75 for A.R.C.æ DIANA HOLLAND

The
Hardwick Room, I.C.W.G. talk on ‰Fans‰ by Joyce Levermore was
excellent.
Much
fun was had by those who watched Lord
Paget‰s Ladies Morris Dancing Team in the U.R.C. car park.
The local Mothers‰ Union attended that organisation‰s Festival in St. Paul‰s Cathedral on 11th June. Our banner can just be seen in the background. Our Diocesan President, Lynette Paul, is talking to Canon Michael Sayward with the Area Vice-Presidents just behind her. It was an impressive sight to see all the banners from the London Diocese being processed from the altar down the nave.
ON 20th June St. Giles‰ M.U. held a very successful Ickenham Festival lunch attended by 62 people who had a thoroughly enjoyable time. £230 was made which has been given to the Church Hall Extension Fund.

St. Giles‰ ëHoly Mowers‰ entered the ëFloat‰ competition on Ickenham Festival Gala Day and won second prize. Glebe School came first. Well done to the School in its Golden Jubilee year.
The tee-shirts, and haloes, worn by this team of ëdynamic diggers‰ š sounds Australian - gave the chaps an angelic image which was rather offset byæ the face of the gnome, and scarecrow, perched on the lorry behind them.
Well done to everyone who participated in the Gala Parade through the Village.
