As soon as we will have recovered from giving the Bissets a
good send-off to the parishes of Penn and Tylers Green, we shall welcome the
Guthries among us. Adrian will be ordained deacon in St Paul's Cathedral
on July 5th and we look forward to a formal welcome to him and his
family at services in St Giles' on July 6th. Adrian introduces himself
and his family elsewhere in this edition.
The Rt. Revd. Richard Harris, Bishop of Oxford, ordained Jason Reid as Deacon
on the 29th June in Christ Church Cathedral.و Jason was a former member of St. Giles‰
congregation where he sang in the choir during the 1980s and became a Bishop‰s
Chorister. He will serve in the parish of Woodley near Reading and we offer our
prayers and good wishes to him as he begins his ministry there.
New beginnings in the month of July but also excitement which comes from well
established activities like our Junior Holiday Club taking place during the
first week of the school summer holidays, 21-25 July. Rosemary Hodgson
and her many colleagues are well ahead with plans for yet another opportunity
for the 7-11 year olds to come together to hear about God's love for them and
for the whole of creation - and that's only part of the enjoyment!
For those of you taking a break from the routine rough and tumble of daily life
over the next couple of months, may you be refreshed in mind, body and spirit.
Greetings and peace to you all.

In last month's I.C.N. Mike Bisset said his farewell to us before moving to Penn and Tyler's Green. On behalf of everyone at the United Reformed Church I want to say how much we have appreciated Mike's ministry at joint church services and at other activities, such as the Holiday Club. I have particularly valued his friendship, together with Ali. The engaging way in which he has applied his Christian belief to every situation has been most helpful - he has indeed been true to the Bible and the Good News of Jesus Christ, which it contains, and I am glad that the St Giles' pulpit never collapsed under him! His approach to worship, often leading with his guitar both modern and traditional hymns and songs, has been uplifting.
So we wish Mike and his family well for their new ministry as it begins on 13th July.

We look forward to welcoming Adrian Guthrie, and pray for God's blessing on his ministry at St Giles', with the U.R.C. and in the community.
With Christian greetings to you all,
RICHARD
