I was very interested to read John Fowling‰s contribution, Christian Geometry, in the May number of I.C.N. In my youth I, too, read ‹FlatlandŠ and was greatly interested by it.
Human beings live in a created universe, which is restricted by limitations of time and space. God is not confined by these limitations, but when He chooses to visit us He must limit Himself, so to speak, to a shape which we can understand and grasp. As John Fowling points out, ‹- this is precisely what he did in JesusŠ. This concept contributes greatly to our understanding of how Jesus can be both God and man.

Ickenham responds generously to our global neighbours'
needs
The Christian Aid red envelope house collection yielded £ 6,925 (last year £6,592), with gift aid recovery of income tax this makes the total for the weekææ £7,781; an encouraging increase of six per cent on last year's £7,336.
Our grateful thanks to all those who contributed so generously, and particularly to those committed and dedicated collectors who distributed nearly 4,000 red envelopes and through their perseverance had such a positive response.æ A special thanks to the 15 area organisers who are the organisational backbone of Christian Aid Week and who work so hard at recruiting and encouraging collectors, as well as counting and recording the cash. Our thanks, too, to our meticulous treasurer who makes sure that none of the contributions go astray.æ The success of Christian Aid Week heavily depends on all these humble heroes.
This year we managed to collect in most of the Ickenham roads within the 15 areas. We were thankful for the efforts of the new recruits, some young and some a ëlittle‰ older with the same youthful spirit. We do hope they found the experience personally rewarding and will join us again next year.
Our special thanks go to all those who supported us in prayer, and helped to make this a joyful and spiritual occasion.
The money raised will help change the lives of some of the world's poorest people who are vibrant and compassionate within their communities. Christian Aid is not only about fund raising; it is also about raising awareness, empathy and Christian love towards our neighbours who live in abject poverty.
Next year's Christian Aid Week is 9th -15thæ May.æ Meanwhile please keep caring, campaigning and praying.

More volunteers needed urgently
The next Sunday when volunteers are needed to collect patients from wards for Communion services in the hospital chapel is:æ Mount Vernon Hospital, Sunday 24th August. Hillingdon Hospital is Sunday 7th September. More dates will be published in future months. This small service is very much appreciated by patients who have no family available to help them.
