ALL THIS AND MORE, AT THE URC BARGAIN DAY
In need of a bit of retail therapy? Then on Saturday 11th May, start your day at the Plant and Book Sale on the URC forecourt (from 10am, with coffee, tea and home-made refreshments available while you browse and buy).
In the afternoon, we move indoors to the Church Hall for the Auction, and from 2.15pm auctioneer Henry Gardner will do his usual sterling job of leading us through the bidding for a wide range of interesting items. See foot of page 1 for full details of viewing times, etc.
Listed here are just a few of the items we’ve received already, all waiting to be taken home by a successful bidder. And there’s more arriving from the generous Ickenham public every day! If you would like us to auction items for you on a commission basis, talk to Henry about that in advance – call him on 01895 674074. All other enquiries about the day should go to Richard Piper (01895 634348).
Entrance is free, with a catalogue and bidding number costing just £2. There are no buyers’ or sellers’ premiums, so what you bid is what you pay. And with proceeds being shared between the church and its charities for 2013, it will be a great day out for a great cause. So come and join in the fun!
HALF TERM AT THE COMPASS
A number of special events have been planned at the Compass for half term with children in mind.
- On Sunday 26th May, two performances of Rumpelstiltskin and the Wheel of Fortune by Bedfordshire based Puppet Theatre Company should make the young audience laugh and gasp at the same time.
- On Tuesday 28th May, Candy Kingdoms’ Children’s craft and theatre workshops will be running.
- On Wednesday 29th May, there’s a film screening of the Roald Dahl classic Willy Wonka, starring Gene Wilder.
And all on our doorstep here in Ickenham! Check the theatre website for more details, costs and booking arrangements, at www.compasstheatre.co.uk.
