HOLLY LEADS THE WAY

Holly Blackman, an enthusiastic member of St Giles’ youth groups, recently arranged a well-supported session of art in action in the church hall.  This is how she described the event:

“At the turn of the year I went on a Christian leadership course called ‘Fresh’.  I was encouraged to come up with my own project to put the new skills and knowledge that I had learnt into practice.  So I decided to link art with worship and asked the young people from St Giles’ Ickenham and St Mary’s Harefield to help me make some banners.  Both groups agreed and we created four pieces of work.  We then invited members of both congregations to come and view what we had done, and while they were there, join in producing a fifth piece.

“We wanted the banners to reflect the fun of meeting together at Neon; of how we go deeper into the bible to explore our faith; the importance of individuality – we are all special, unique, and yet an essential part of the whole; and despite our differences, we are all drawn together and connected by the Cross and Jesus who died for us.”

Definitely a ‘Fresh’ approach to worship!
