WOMEN’S WORLD DAY OF PRAYER

This year the Women’s World Day of Prayer will be held on Friday 4th March starting at 1.30 p.m. (followed by refreshments). The service has been prepared by Christian Women of Poland and the theme will be ‘Let Our Light Shine’. The service will be held at the Chapel of Faith, RAF West Ruislip in Heacham Avenue, Ickenham, and the speaker will be Shelia Wilson, an American Air Force chaplain. Everyone is welcome to attend. For further details please contact Juliette Guthrie (676092) at St Giles’ Church, or Margaret Clarke (636778) at the United Reformed Church.

HOSPITAL COMMUNION SERVICES 2005
More Volunteers needed urgently

The next Sunday when volunteers are needed to collect patients from wards for Communion services in the hospital chapel is: Hillingdon Hospital, Sunday 20th March. More dates will be published in future months. This small service is very much appreciated by patients who have no family available to help them. To continue this service we need to supplement our regular team with more volunteers to provide cover for unavoidable absences. Anyone who is prepared to spend a couple of hours on occasional Sunday mornings, please contact Alan Grove on 020 8868 9220.

DROP-IN FOR THE BEREAVED

Many people will know that for a few years we have held a Drop-In for bereaved people at St. Giles' Church Hall on the 3rd Monday of each month, from 2.00 to 3.30 p.m. This is a friendly, informal opportunity for a chat, over a cup of tea, with other bereaved people and with pastoral visitors.
We have been aware that bereaved people who are working during the day are not able to attend the afternoon Drop-In, so we have decided to initiate an additional Evening Drop-In, for a six-month trial period, from April to September. Starting on 6th April, the Evening Drop-In will be held on the 1st Wednesday of each month, from 7.30 to 9.00 p.m. in the United Reformed Church Hardwick Room.

MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR THE BEREAVED

There will be a special Memorial Service at St. Giles' Church on Sunday 17th April at 3.00 p.m. for those who are bereaved. The name of the departed, whose funeral was conducted at the United Reformed Church or by St. Giles' staff between the beginning of March 2004 and the end of February 2005, will be read out during the service. Canon David Winter, who is a writer and broadcaster from Oxford, will give an Address.

Members of the churches' Pastoral Support Group will be present. After the service, the congregation will be invited to have refreshments in St. Giles' Church Hall.

Anyone who would find this service helpful is welcome to come.

PARKINSON’S DISEASE AWARENESS WEEK
Please Support This New Local Venture

Parkinsons Disease Society offers vital support, and advice, to patients, their families, friends and carers. Dennis and Barbara Critchett, supported by the Hillingdon Branch, are holding an event to raise
funds, and provide information in accordance with Parkinsons Awareness Week.

We invite you to A Coffee Morning, in aid of the Hillingdon Branch, in Ickenham Village Hall, on Saturday 16th April between 10 a.m. and noon. Admission 30p.
Coffee, or tea, and cakes £1.50. Among the many and varied stalls we will be selling cakes, books, bric-a-brac, and good second hand clothes. There will be an information table and we are running a raffle.

We welcome all our friends, and anyone suffering from Parkinson’s Disease who has not yet ‘found’ us.

Please come and support our first venture in Ickenham. More Information from Barbara Critchett Tel. 01895 638020 and Jane Watkins Tel.01895 814379

ICKENHAM FESTIVAL DANCE

As Easter is early this year, the opportunity has been taken to hold our annual dance on 23rd April and celebrate St George’s Day. The venue is as usual Vyners School, Warren Road and the dance will start at 8.00 p.m. with tickets at £12.50 each including a Buffet Supper. Tables of 10 will attract 2 free bottles of wine so why not make up a group? This year live music will be provided by a new duo After Dark, who will cater for all ages and all tastes from ‘strictly come dancing’ to ‘rock and roll’, so come and party! A licensed bar will be available. Tickets from Togs and Book Cellar in the village or from any Festival Team member. In case of difficulty telephone 01895 637932.
