What a great week we had at Holiday Club! We were full to bursting this year with well over the usual 200 children (including Jumbo Club) and just under 200 helpers. The weather was kind and the atmosphere was fun-filled and joyful.
The “Seaside Rock” theme introduced children to Jesus through the stories and experiences of Peter - The Rock - and explored sea stories from both the Old and New Testaments. Each day the children met a new story teller who brought the Christian message to life in their own special way. Some made us rock with laughter like Shelly the blonde Blue Coat (alias Ali Whittall). A couple scared us all with pirates and monster fish! (Bernie Collins and Cap’n Kershaw). Ken Tombs made us cry with sorrow with the story of Peter denying Jesus, and a group of children got their message across with a very original and funny version of “The Three Little Pigs”.
All this was topped and tailed with some wonderful singing backed by a children’s orchestra. But it didn’t stop there! Children worked in groups each day making seaside pictures, toys, and even beachwear. (Continued on page 3).
