The judges were faced with a testing but enjoyable task, choosing the winners of the CLICK Rukiga photography competition on the theme of ‘Water’. And from the look of the entries, competitors were having a lot of fun too, on the beach and in the garden, seeing how light dapples on the water’s surface, capturing a reflection, or the joy on a child’s face mid-splash!
After much discussion, Sean Kelly and Roy Vollrath were named the joint winners in the adult competition. Each wins a meal for two at a local restaurant. The winner of the junior section, meanwhile, is Nicos Tombros, who wins a book on digital photography, and a local toyshop voucher. You can also see these winning photos in colour on our website.
Competition entries raised £207; congratulations to everyone who took part. Thanks also to the local businesses that provided the prizes – the Birothi Restaurant and Chaplin’s Restaurant in Ickenham, and The Entertainer Toy Shop in Uxbridge.
The money raised will go towards the water project in Rukiga, which aims to bring clean fresh drinking water to many in the community – thankfully something that we here in Ickenham can take for granted. Look out for a progress report on the water project in a future issue of ICN.
