2010 IS A FESTIVAL YEAR!
Ickenham Festival: Saturday 12th – Sunday 20th June
Gala Day at Swakeleys House - Saturday 19th June
Having spent the time since the 2008 Festival raising funds, the Ickenham Festival team are planning to make this the best Festival Ickenham has ever seen.
There will be exhibitions, fairs and crafts; sports and walks; concerts, shows and dancing; lunches and picnics; and the essential Open Gardens events (they don’t have to be fantastic, just welcoming!) On Gala Day, a procession through the village with floats, vehicles, a band or two and fancy dress, will finish at glorious Swakeleys House with a fete in full swing, followed by an evening concert and fireworks.
BUT THEY CAN’T DO IT WITHOUT YOU!
The team need to hear from you, your business, club or other organisation. If you’ve got something to share with Ickenham, they can fit it in. Can you arrange a display or demonstration, organise a competition, stage a production, open your garden, make a scarecrow, or join the procession with a float or interesting vehicle? Do you have access to an attraction (bouncy castle or similar) that could be used in Swakeleys’ grounds on Gala Day?
If you can contribute in any way please let the team know as soon as possible so that it can be included in the programme. Contact Chairman David Edington at 230 Hoylake Crescent (telephone 01895 672783 or email hedgehog.haven@virgin.net ) or any member of the Festival Committee, or visit the Festival website at www.ickenhamfestival.org.uk. Thank you.
PS: Two more fun and fund-raising events to go before the Festival Week itself
If you would like to attend either of these, please contact the team soon!

ST GILES’ IN THE SNOW
St Giles’ looked beautiful in January with its mantle of snow, but not everyone enjoyed the weather. Still, in 1695 it snowed in London every day for five weeks and the Thames froze over. And, on Christmas Day in 1836, snow was up to 15 feet deep in places with drifts of 20 to 50 feet! So, not such a bad January, really!
