CHURCH HALL NEWS
On 13th September 2002, we received the Certificate of Practical Completion regarding Phase Two. This means that the builders have left the site, though there are still various "snags" to be rectified.
Nevertheless we are now able to offer four good-sized rooms for hire and I have heard many people say how pleased they are with the first floor additions and the rear hall renovation. We have had a number of problems to overcome and I am grateful to the members of the Phase Two committee - Richard Askey, Bernard Chapman and David Thorpe - for all their help and advice during the
rebuilding. Our thanks go also to Dale Venn, our architect, Peter Moore, our civil engineer and Andy Hale our builder.

We are also most grateful to Kerry Norman and members of the 2nd Ickenham (URC) Scout Group for not only storing
our equipment for far longer than anticipated, but also for collecting and
returning it and refusing any payment. The Group has also recently undertaken
the maintenance of two graves near the Church Hall and they are already much
improved.
Bernard Chapman is now 78 and has been Hall Manager for 27 years. He now feels he should retire. He will be greatly missed and we thank him for all his efforts over this long period.
Jenny Morrish has been Letting Secretary for the past four years and because of increasing personal commitments would like to hand over the position. We are very grateful for all her hard work, especially during the difficult times of Phase Two.
Consequently we need, as soon as possible, a new Hall

Roughly thirty members our community, including our Councillor, attended this biannual general meeting in St. Giles‰ Church Hall on 7th October. As with all such occasions the audited accounts were scrutinised and the new Officers and Committee elected. Chairman, David Millen, took us through his report. During any other business there were questions about future access to Swakeleys House via the Swakeleys Drive entrance, and how this might impinge on the route followed by the Gala Day Procession. Also discussed were some of the problems that will be encountered owing to ever expanding bureaucracy at local and national level. Charitable status is under serious consideration by the Committee. At the close of the meeting those present enjoyed some excellent refreshments and were able to watch a video of the highlights of the 2002 Jubilee Festival.

Owing to serious illness, our existing ICN deliverer can no longer continue with this delivery round. A new, and permanent, volunteer is needed urgently. Perhaps someone living in Copthall Road East, or close by, would be prepared to help. If so please contact the Editor immediately.
On the evening of 30th September, students and staff, past and present, joined new head teacher Andrew Wilkins and Mayor Cllr. Josephine Barrett J.P. in a Eucharist to celebrate 25 years of success since its opening in 1977. Other events to mark the occasion included a special ëOpen Afternoon‰ and a past student teacher reunion on 11th October.
MACMILLAN CANCER
RELIEF SALE
The fundraising sale in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief, held in Ickenham Guide Hut from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday 21st September, raised £700 for the charity. Sheena Rosser would like to say a very warm thank you to those who helped, donated or visited the event.
Sheena is mounting a 'Local Photographs' Exhibition in
Uxbridge Library from 2nd to 21st November and it will
include pictures of Ickenham.
