THREE NEW DEAN‰S CHORISTERS

Three boys from St. Giles' Choir have recently achieved the award of Dean's Chorister from the Royal School of Church Music. In a regional examination, Mark Hurst, Ben Hill and Jonathan Horrigan had to demonstrate their musical ability in performing hymns, psalms and an anthem, and answer questions about the content and style of the music they were performing, the services held at St. Giles‰, and the duties of choir members. Additionally, they were examined on their understanding of four parables, the parable of the Sower, the Good Samaritan, the Pharisee and the Tax Gatherer, and the Prodigal Son. The three boys passed the examination with flying colours and were presented with their distinctive medals with a green ribbon by the Revd. Ken Tombs at the family service on Harvest Sunday, October 5th.

Mark, Ben and Jonathan will attend St. Paul's Cathedral in November to sing Evensong with the Cathedral Choir, and be presented with their certificates by the Dean of St. Paul's The Very Revd. Dr. John Moses.

SUNDIAL AND PLAQUE DEDICATION

On Sunday 28^th September the family and friends of Harold and Matilda Wallis, deceased, met in St Giles‰ Church for a short service of remembrance. Immediately after this they processed to the Church Hall for the dedication, by the Revd. Ken Tombs, of a sundial and plaque to their memories.æ Harold, or Jimmy as he was known, died in 1984 while Matilda, or Tilly, passed away in 2001.

The dedication finished with these words. ‹ Lord, we dedicate this sun dial to the memory of Jimmy and Tilly Wallis. May all who look upon it, take time to think and to realise that time is Your gift to us all. And so, may we use aright, the time that is left to us here on earth. Amen.

GLEBE SCHOOL

Pre-Christmas Shopping Evening

Glebe School, Sussex Road, Ickenham. Thursday 13^th November 6.30 p.m. - 9.30 p.m.

This takes place on Saturday 6^th December from 11.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. at Glebe Primary School in Sussex Road, Ickenham.

There will be: Raffles, Cakes, Tombola, Many and Various Stalls, a Barbecue and Refreshments. Visit Santa and much more. Entrance for adults is 50p and children get in FREE.

WEST RUISLIP CHAPEL

Paid Cr¶che Workers Wanted

We are in great need of cr¶che workers on Sundays and need 2-3 responsible adults to care for some children on Sunday Mornings during services. We pay £100 per Sunday to be split between workers. Candidates must be must be at least 18 years old and CPR (coronary, pulmonary resuscitation) and first aid trained.æ Such training will be provided if successful applicants lack these qualifications.
