There was something for everyone who attended this year’s Holiday Club. Every day started with prayers, songs, stories with the theme of Celebration, a review of what happened the day before and details of what was to come. And there was such a lot to choose from! From acting to agility on the football field; ice skating to quilling; climbing to plate-painting; Model Village to plaster-casting; raft-building to flower-arranging; Quasar to egg-decorating. The list was endless. And, naturally, there was Jumbo Club for the thirty little ones. It was all made so much the better by the enthusiasm of the children. Everywhere they went, outsiders commented on their good behaviour and happy outlook. As many of the children (and the helpers) said, “We can’t wait for next year!”
To celebrate its 40th birthday, on 12th July Holiday Club organised a splendid exhibition of photographs and memorabilia of Holiday Clubs past. A special Reunion Service in the URC gave us the chance to give thanks for this great Ickenham event – and to sing again some of our favourite Holiday Club songs from years gone by.
Current leader Anne Whitlam welcomed a number of her predecessors on the day (see photo).
