ST GILES’ CHURCH STREET PRAYER LIST

Each Sunday at St Giles’ Church we pray for all the people who live or work in a particular road in the Parish.  During October we will pray for the following roads:

Oct 7th              Milverton Drive
Oct 14th            Narborough Close
Oct 21st            Neela Close
Oct 28th            Nettleton Road

If you live in one of these roads why not join us at our 8am or 9.45am services?  You will be most welcome.

ICKENHAM’S DREAMING SPIRES?

Well, there is one spire in Ickenham, on top of St Giles’ Church, but there doesn’t seem too much chance of confusing our village with Oxford.  Even so, for a week in September, Glebe Avenue was transformed into 1960s’ Oxford, when Iced ‘N’ Sliced became Armitage the Tobacconists, and Hair by Ara became the East Cowley Post Office.

All this was to accommodate filming of scenes for a new episode of ‘Endeavour’, the prequel to ‘Morse’.  This deals with Morse’s early career in the police force (when he seemed happy for people to know his first name!) and features Shaun Evans as the younger version of the character made famous by John Thaw.  Roger Allam plays his boss in those early days, Detective Inspector Fred Thursday.
