ICKENHAM GARDEN CENTRE SITE
Action time again?
It is possible that a number of local residents have received through their letterbox an A5 sized leaflet concerning new development proposals for the old Garden Centre site. The details, in full, are printed below. In view of the quite extraordinary interest engendered by the previous planning application, and subsequent Inquiry, it is likely that a large number of readers will wish to avail the local Planning Department of their views on this new submission.
A new planning application to bulldoze Pete Cottage and build 12 x 2 bedroom flats in a four-storey block on the old Garden Centre site at 15/17 High Road, Ickenham, has been submitted to Hillingdon Council.
Please write to give your opinion to; Jean Palmer, Planning Dept., Civic Centre, Uxbridge. UB8 1UW, quoting Ref. 57069/APP/2004/2467 for the erection of the flats and 57069/APP/2004/2468 for the demolition of existing buildings.

ICKENHAM AFTERNOON TOWNSWOMENS GUILD
On a sunny September afternoon, and thanks to the hospitality of Daphne and Glyn Warden, the Guild Music Group, and their guests, held their annual charity garden party. After a buffet lunch, prepared by Beryl Scott, members were able to enjoy competitions, stalls, a raffle, and tombola.
The hard work of all the helpers resulted in the magnificent sum of £700 being raised for charity. This will be divided between Marie Curie Nurses and the local branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
