ICKENHAM GUIDE IN SPANISH!
The original Ickenham Guide was published in English in 1995, and was soon followed by the French and German versions. At long last we have a Spanish version, translated by Maite Raeched. So if you have any Spanish-speaking visitors from now on, you have the perfect souvenir to give them to take home!
The Guide comprises 16 sides of A5, with 13 colour pictures of present-day Ickenham, and a brief history of the main places of interest. The original booklets were photocopies with real photos stuck in the new ones are digitally produced. The price is £2.95.
All versions of the Guide can be bought from Ickenham Library, Mace, or direct from the publisher Sheena Rosser (contact details on the Photos On Things advert in this newsletter).
HILLINGDON WATERCOLOUR CHALLENGE CALENDAR 2005
The second edition of this calendar (the first was in 2003) has just been published, featuring 12 watercolours that were painted from local photos (taken around the Borough) as part of a competition in June.
Three Ickenham artists featured are Angela Adams, Janet Hopkins and Ian Watson. The November picture is of St Giles and the Pump.
The calendar is A4 landscape, spiral-bound, opening up to A3 with a hanging hole, printed on quality art paper, with ample room for appointments & notes.
It costs £6.50, including envelope, but there are discounts for anyone ordering 10 or more, so join with a few friends and save yourselves some money, or use them for your fundraising (set your own selling price) - available from the same outlets as the Ickenham Guide (above).
Any group ordering 25 or more can have them overprinted (or overprint themselves) on the front cover.
WERE YOU EVER A CRUSADER?
The Crusaders are asking former members to get in touch, in order to be involved in Centenary celebrations in 2006. You are invited to e-mail your details to Season@Crusaders.org.uk, or write to Sharon Eason, Crusaders, Kestlin House, 45 Crescent Road, Luton LU2 0AH. Further details from Richard Piper [Coventry Central 1959-69].
PS: for the uninitiated, the Crusaders run a network of Bible classes for boys and girls, separately in the 1960s, but probably together now!
Receipt is acknowledged, with grateful thanks, of the following donations towards the cost of I.C.N.:
Anglo-German Club via Marie Cull, Anonymous of Breakspear Road East via Margaret Christie, Mrs Edgley of St Giles Avenue, Mr and Mrs Donaldson from Chalfont-St-Giles.
Copy for December edition should be with me by 13th November.
